In Memoriam

Mark A. Freeman, 60, of Coudersport, PA died Saturday, October 23, 2021 at UPMC – Hamot in Erie following complications related to COVID-19.

Mark was a wonderful supervisor that cared about our community. He came into each meeting ready to serve and always had a smile on his face. He was very encouraging to those around him and had the best sense of humor that could make anyone laugh. He will be sorely missed.

Mark was born on July 8, 1961, in Bentwaters Air Force Base, England, the son of the late Milton S. and Betty Ann (Palmatier) Freeman.  On August 15, 1981, he married the former Mary Jo Glassmire and they have celebrated 40 years of marriage.
Mark graduated from Coudersport High School, Class of 1979.  He excelled in track and football and was a proud member of the FFA.

Mark was well-liked, kind, compassionate, and an extremely hard worker.  He was the Director of Operations for UPMC Cole – Cole Care and helped build Cole Care from the ground up starting in 1985.  Prior to Cole Care, he had worked for Pure Carbon and Molded Plastics Midland Optical.  He was a current Homer Township Supervisor and part-owner of Freeman Family Farm LLC and M & M Freeman LLC.  He was also a past co-operator of Glassmire Snowmobile Sales for 25+ years.
Mark was a member of several organizations and activities including: St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Potter County Snowmobile Club, lifetime member of the N.R.A, an alumni member of the Denton Hill Ski Patrol, former member of the Coudersport Sports Boosters, a former Assistant Boy Scout Leader of Troop 536 and proud to help his 3 sons and several other scouts reach the rank of Eagle Scout. He coached baseball, football and soccer for his sons and enjoyed attending their events.  Mark enjoyed hunting, maple syrup production, boating and camping at Kinzua, snowmobiling, making wine, cooking, vacations to the beach, and spending time with his family, friends, and grand dogs.
